Street parties
The Church Street team works closely with residents and social housing providers to encourage local people to organise street/estate parties, as a means of promoting tolerant, diverse and neighbourly communities.
Church Street Summer Festival
This annual event is Church Street's largest, with attendance growing every year. Local community, voluntary and commercial stakeholders are encouraged to run stalls and the main stage offers a platform for a range of music and performance arts.
Christmas lights event
For the past four years, Church Street Neighbourhood Management has hosted an evening of carol singing, mulled wine and minced pies, to welcome in the festive season and to switch on our Christmas street lights.
Cultural Food Awareness event
Poor diet is an issue for many in the Church Street community. The Cultural Food Awareness day encourages people to attend workshops that teach healthy ways of cooking traditional foods. The workshops will eventually end with two weekend outdoor events, comprising various food stalls, on-stage cookery demonstrations and live music from around the world. The stalls will reflect the diverse ethnic make up of Church Street. The Neighbourhood Management will be working on this project in partnership with the Primary Care Trust, A Moveable Feast and Good Food Festival.
