The work is coordinated through a joint Council/Metropolitan Police initiative known as Civic Watch. The priority areas of work are set by a panel of elected local residents known as the Safer Neighbourhoods Panel. Currently, the top three priorities are:
Youth anti-social behaviour and drugs
Dog fouling
Theft around the market
Meanwhile, the Civic Watch team reacts swiftly on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that each part of the team is tasked with appropriate actions to resolve crime and nuisance as they arise.
