Community cohesion

Key successes include . . .

Fisherton Street Party
The Neighbourhood Management team worked with residents living on the Fisherton Estate to put on a memorable street party. Residents helped prepare the food, organise the activities and supervise the children. It was a great success enjoyed by all who attended.

Christmas lights switch on
Every year we put on a Christmas event to welcome in the festive season and switch on the street lights. At last year's event, the owner of Alfies Antiques market, Bennie Gray, turned on the lights, and cheerleaders group Unique Dynamites and St Paul's Youth choir sung some Christmas carols.

Paddington People
The Church Street edition of the magazine is a great way of finding out what's happening in Church Street and neighbouring wards.

Young Advisors
Church Street has a very motivated group of young people who are serious about improving the services on offer to both young people and adults in the area. In the past, they have conducted surveys and attended important meetings. If their current funding bid to the Big Lottery is successful, the Young Advisors have plans to broaden their scope to neighbouring wards.

Church Street Festival
Each year, the Church street festival pulls in an average 2,500-3,000 people. The event is most popular for parents with young children, and young adults.

Networking lunch
The Networking lunch is a great way of bringing together relevant stakeholders, to share good practice and communicate any initiatives that benefit the community.
